The Place

The heart of the Exeter creative community, Exeter Phoenix has a huge amount going on all the time from a busy events list to galleries and a digital media centre. The Cafe Bar sits at the heart of the centre and is open all day every day. There is a mixture of table and chairs and sofas, there is also a terrace as well. The cafe serves a good basic range of coffees and teas and has a food menu as well.

The WiFi

This was the original place in Exeter to get free wifi and everybody knew it so it used to get bogged down with over use. Sadly they don't seem to have updated their wifi hub in years and most of the time I go in its either not working or crawling. This is a shame as this was a great place to bump into other digital types but most people now seem to use other places as there seems to be no interest in replacing their worn out equipment. My advice is always to ask/check that the wifi is working before you order and leave if its not. I've mentioned to the staff that I'd stay if the wifi was working but my comments are usually met with a shrug of the shoulders. You can ask at the main reception to have the wifi restarted which sometimes helps.
